As we gear up for the 2023 Super Sevens Series, you may have spotted a few familiar faces appearing on the World Sevens, and European Rugby stages.
George Selwood, Adam Leal, Finlay Brown, Katie Ritchie, Richard Haughton, Craig Chan, Ano Kuwai, and Holly Wood have been taking charge of games across the World Sevens Series in various locations across the globe, including most recently in Hong Kong.
In addition to the World Sevens Series, referee Ano Kuwai (JRFU) has been named in the referee team for the World Rugby Sevens Challenger Series taking place later this month in South Africa.
Speaking of the appointments, and the success the referees have had, our Super Sevens Series Referee Manager Michael Tutty said; “The vision of Terry Sands and Barrie Torbett with the Super Sevens Series was also to help with referee development. Little did they know that this would become the crucial stepping stone to success for many referees. We have had referees with International Invitation Finals, HSBC World Series, European Rugby, Commonwealth Games, Olympic Games and Sevens World Cup success. The Super Sevens Series helps people.”
Adding to that, Series Founder and Director, Barrie Torbett; “We are delighted that, in addition to the SSS developing rugby players who have gone onto International recognition, our referees are also appearing in the World Series and Premiership rugby.”
We look forward to welcoming a strong team of experienced referees back to the competition across this summer.
