LIT Super Sevens Series 2025: The UK’s Biggest Rugby 7s Summer Yet

Rugby sevens in the UK is about to experience its most exciting summer to date. The newly formed LIT Super Sevens Series 2025 marks a landmark merger between two of the sport’s most dynamic forces: the Super Sevens Series, the UK’s elite-level 7s competition, and the London International 7s Tournament Series (LIT7s), the country’s premier open and social rugby series.
The result? The largest rugby sevens series in the UK and Europe, with over 200 teams competing across six events between May and July.
This bold new chapter combines the intensity and international pedigree of the Super Sevens Series with the unmatched atmosphere and inclusivity of LIT7s. It promises elite performance, grassroots growth, and unforgettable experiences.
A Legacy of Excellence Meets Festival Spirit
The Super Sevens Series, founded in 2012 by Terry Sands and Barrie Torbett, has long been the proving ground for elite 7s talent. Over the years, it has welcomed international teams from China, Spain, Germany, and Hong Kong, and showcased stars such as Sam Cross, Harry Randell, Semi Radradra, Ross McCann, and David Strettle.

LIT7s, also launched in 2012 by Ellaine Gelman, has grown into the UK’s largest open and social 7s series. In 2024, over 165 teams competed, including sides from France, Switzerland, Jordan and China. Its showpiece event at Wasps FC, attracted more than 1,125 players, cementing its place as the UK’s biggest rugby sevens tournament.
Together, they form the LIT Super Sevens Series – a dynamic new platform for every level of the game, from grassroots players to international stars creating the biggest series in Europe.
The 2025 Series: Bigger, Broader, and More Inclusive
The 2025 series kicks off with Manor 7s on 10 May, and spans six high-energy events:
Manor 7s (Eton Manor RFC) – 10 May
Oxford 7s (Oxford Quins RFC) – 17 May
Shelford 7s (Shelford RFC) – 7 June
National Pub 7s (Harpenden RFC) – 21 June
Bury St Edmunds 7s (Bury St Edmunds RFC) – 5 July
LIT7s (Wasps FC) – 19 July
Breaking Down the Buzz
Over 200 men’s and women’s teams will compete across Elite, Open, and Social categories.
The Men’s Elite division has expanded from 12 to 16 teams, with an international lineup featuring top-tier squads from Hong Kong, China, Belgium, Wales and multiple Fijian teams. UK-based Shogun, one of the world’s most successful 7s teams, will compete alongside military sides, including core team British Army and guest side RAF.

On the women’s side, this year’s Elite competition will be the biggest ever, increasing from 8 to 12 teams, including Premiership clubs Trailfinders Women and Bath.
GB Olympian Abi Burton will lead Trailfinders’ campaign, while reigning champions Hammerheads return, boasting multiple GB 7s players.
The Open division promises further diversity, with teams from Cyprus, Malta, and Gibraltar adding to the global spirit of the competition.
With no Twickenham 7s on the calendar this year, the LIT Super Sevens Series is the ultimate way to experience elite international rugby in the UK — all minimal cost (tickets are free for two legs and go no higher than £12 for others).
Several legs are already sold out for team entries, reflecting the growing appetite for high-quality, accessible rugby events. With events hosted at community-focused rugby clubs across the country, the series supports local teams by bringing in vital revenue, sponsors, and fresh players.
Whether you're a rugby purist, or new to the game, the LIT Super Sevens Series 2025 promises fast-paced action, vibrant crowds, and a celebration of rugby sevens like no other.
